Yes, but only in exceptional cases and with the approval of both the Dean of the Doctoral School and the Dean of the Faculty offering the course. The doctoral student must submit an appropriate request. The request must also include the support of the doctoral student’s supervisor.

Before the e-mail account is created, we contact doctoral students through the IRK system. Once the university e-mail account has been created, all information and instructions concerning access to USOS and other university systems are sent to the doctoral student by e-mail.

Yes. If there are available places on the course, it is sufficient to add the course to the basket and complete the registration by clicking the appropriate registration button. After successful registration, the course should be displayed as registered in USOS. The basket should be highlighted in green when the registration has been completed successfully.

Doctoral students can register for sports classes according to the registration procedure announced by the Study of Physical Education and Sport (SWFiS). Information about available classes and registration dates is provided by SWFiS. Doctoral students should follow the current registration instructions and information published by SWFiS.

Information about available courses is published on the Doctoral School website, in the section dedicated to the course offer and also at USOSweb. The offer includes courses assigned to individual disciplines, compulsory courses, elective courses, language courses and other course blocks. Course registration takes place through USOS.

A document confirming completion of an English course at C1.2 level may provide grounds for applying for an exemption, provided that the document meets the requirements specified by the Doctoral School. The doctoral student should submit an appropriate request to the Dean. The final decision regarding the exemption is made by the Dean. Completion of a B2-level English course does not provide grounds for exemption from the English courses at the Doctoral School. To apply for an exemption, the doctoral student must have a document confirming at least C1-level English proficiency and submit an appropriate request to the Dean. The exemption is granted upon the Dean’s decision. The current list of certificates and diplomas recognized by the Doctoral School is available here:

Please note: a C1+ and C1.1 level certificate is not recognized as a basis for exemption from the English courses.

Being a PWr employee does not automatically mean that a doctoral student is exempt from the teaching-practice requirement. Doctoral students are required to complete teaching practice in the form of conducting classes or participating in their delivery, within the amount specified in the education program. Exemption or reduction is possible only in situations provided for by the applicable regulations and requires the appropriate procedure and approval.

The arrangements for PWr employees who are also doctoral students may change from year to year. For the current academic year, it is likely that doctoral students who are also PWr employees will use the same USOS profile. Detailed information about access will be provided if any changes are introduced.

The individual education plan should be arranged so that all compulsory courses are completed within the required period. Under the current Doctoral School regulations, compulsory courses should normally be completed by the end of the fourth semester, excluding the reporting seminars, which follow a separate schedule.

If a required course is not offered in a particular semester, the doctoral student should take it when the course is next available and adjust their course schedule accordingly.

Doctoral students can contact the Doctoral Students’ Council (Rada Doktorantów), which represents the doctoral student community and can facilitate contact and the exchange of experiences between doctoral students.

Yes. Courses completed at a previous university may be recognized as part of the doctoral programme. A doctoral student should submit an appropriate request to the Dean of the Doctoral School. The decision regarding recognition or exemption is made by the Dean.

The following compulsory courses should be completed in accordance with the doctoral student’s discipline: Recent Research Trends in the Discipline and Reporting Seminar in the Discipline. For the remaining courses, it does not matter which discipline they are assigned to. However, when selecting a course, doctoral students should always check the course description/course card to make sure that they meet the requirements for participation and that the course is appropriate for their programme.
