Admission procedure

The admission for academic year 2026/2027 will be open since May 6th, 2026 till June 2nd, 2026, more information on deadlines and schedule can be found here.

Five steps to Doctoral School:


Before registering in the recruitment system, a candidate for the Doctoral School is obliged to:

  • Select a potential supervisor from Wrocław Unviersity of Science and Techology. The list of potential supervisors is available here. Before choosing the potential supervisor, we encourage candidates to our Doctoral School to read the article Ten simple rules for choosing a PhD supervisor.
  • Have a conversation with the potential supervisor regarding the initial concept of the doctoral dissertation. We encourage candidates to discuss with the potential supervisor also the details of future cooperation and the scope of the doctoral student's duties.
  • Obtain the consent of the potential supervisor to undertake the supervision, together with the declaration of the head of the department where the doctoral dissertation would be conducted on the provision of required research resources for the duration of the doctoral dissertation in the event of admission to the Doctoral School.

Other important information:

  • Regulations of whole the admission process as well as evaluation criteria used to assess the candidates are included in the recruitment rules.
  • The admission process, including interviews for the Doctoral School, is carried out by recruitment committees for each discipline (field) appointed by the Dean of Doctoral School.
  • The admission to the Doctoral School is an open competition in each discipline, based on a point system.
  • The following elements are evaluated by the recruitment committee:
    • Description of the initial concept of the doctoral dissertation - weight 1.
    • Scientific activity, research and development activity or other activity (e.g., publications, conferences, projects, patents, internships) - weight 4.
    • Interview - weight 5.
  • You can get a maximum of 100 points.
  • The ranking list is determined separately for each educational discipline on the basis of the recruitment scores obtained by individual candidates.
  • Candidates are qualified depending on their position on the ranking list, up to the number of places awarded for a given discipline, but it is also required to obtain a minimum recruitment score, i.e., at least 50 points out of 100 possible.
  • The amount of the recruitment fee for candidates for the Doctoral School in recruitment for the academic year 2026/2027 is  EUR 55.00 or PLN 230.00 (more details can be found here).
