Doctoral School of Wrocław University of Science and Technology is tuition free for all doctoral students, irrespective of the country of origin.

Yes, according to the new recruitment rules, the candidate should submit a confirmation from a potential supervisor. Therefore, it is necessary to contact the potential supervisor before submitting the recruitment documents. Officially, this person will be approved as a supervisor within three months after starting the Doctoral School.

To find a person who could potentially be a supervisor, it is best to use the supervisors database, where you can find information about all persons who could be supervisors at the Doctoral School of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

The interdisciplinary nature of education at the Doctoral School consists in the possibility to attend courses outside the discipline in which the doctoral dissertation is being prepared. Moreover, it is possible to conduct research in various fields of science and in various scientific disciplines.

No, education at the Doctoral School takes place only in the full-time mode, i.e., the doctoral student must be in Poland.

Yes, professional work outside the univeristy is not an obstacle to participate in the Doctoral School. However, please take into account that a doctorate is a very time-consuming process and any additional work may make the process longer or even impossible.

Concerning working at the university, during the first two years of education, until the mid-term evaluation, you cannot be employed as an academic teacher, but this prohibition does not apply to employment in resaerch projects. More details are in the Regulations of the Doctoral School § 5 sections 17-18


 

Doctorals students who are citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a Member State of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) , residing in the territory of that State may benefit from healthcare on the same terms as Polish insured persons, provided they have a current European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) issued in the country of origin.

Doctoral students who are not citizens of a Member State of the European Union or a Member State of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) who study in Poland and have a valid Pole's Card or have been recognized as persons of Polish origin within the meaning of repatriation regulations and are not subject to compulsory health insurance under another title, they can voluntarily insure themselves by concluding an appropriate agreement with the National Health Fund. In this situation, the health insurance contributions are paid by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. For more details contact the Dean's Office.

Doctoral students who are not citizens of European Union Member States or a Member State of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) and unable to prove a valid Pole's Card or a document certifying that they have been recognized as persons of Polish origin within the meaning of repatriation regulations, may conclude a voluntary health insurance contract with the National Health Fund and pay the monthly contribution be themselves. To this end, you should go to the Provincial Branch of the National Health Fund (NFZ) in Wrocław, to sign a voluntary health insurance contract.

Yes, in order to receive the scholarship payment, you must open an account in a Polish bank. It does not matter what bank it is. However, there are facilities that provide this service free of charge.
