Mid-term evaluation assesses the implementation of an individual research plan in the middle of the education period and is carried out at the beginning of the fifth semester of education.
Mid-term evaluation of an individual research plan is carried out by three-person committees recommended by the relevant scientific discipline councils. Each committee consists of one person employed outside the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and two employees of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. All members of the committee represent the discipline in which the doctoral dissertation is prepared. The supervisor and the asisstant supervisor may not be members of the committee. One committee performs the mid-term evaluation of no more than 7 doctoral students. Committee meetings may be conducted online.

The mid-term evaluation ends with a positive or negative result. In the case of a postive result, the doctoral continues eduction at the Doctoral School and his/her scholarship is increased by about 50%. In the case of a negative result, the doctoral student is removed from the Doctoral School. The result of the evaluation, together with the justification, shall be public (mid-term evaluation form).
Pursuant to the Regulations of the Doctoral School, in the event of a negative evaluation, a doctoral student may, within 7 days, apply to the Dean of the Doctoral School for a re-evaluation.
